Principal's Message

                                                                                                                        August/September 2020

Dear Palomares Families,

It’s been a strong and positive start to our school year! Your active involvement in your child’s education at Palomares is important and I encourage you to look for opportunities to be engaged and involved with our current circumstances. The staff and I look forward to our continued partnership and ensuring our students have a memorable and successful 2020-21school year.

Spreading Our Wings
We are spreading our hawk wings and soaring at Palomares! We started our school year by teaching all the members of our community how we Spread Our Wings at Palomares –
- Have a Growth Mindset
A - Active Learner
- Work Together
- Keep Organized and Be Prepared

 - We Respect
I - Inspire
- Never Give Up
G - Grow and Learn
S - Stay Safe

This is part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support – You can help your child “spread their wings” by reviewing our expectations and helping them memorize them.  You can also practice our school song at home! Together, we can ensure that all of our students have a safe and successful school year.

Do you Tweet? If yes, please follow us (@PalomaresHawks). Every week, teachers and I highlight the wonderful learning and fun that is taking place. I will
also be using Twitter to send out reminders and announcements.  Please send me pictures of your child at home working on their distance learning work.  I will gladly post if you have a media release on file.  This is one of the ways we can stay connected!

Please join me in welcoming new staff members to Palomares.

Julie Fisher - School Counselor
Laura Lopez - School Psychologist
Fred Shikada - PE Specialist
I am available to support you via email, phone call or video chat.  However, I have set aside office hours on Thursdays from 3 - 4 pm.  Please feel free to make an appointment.  In addition, our office is open and Mrs. Collard is on site Monday - Friday. Throughout the district, the windows at schools were redone with a reflective film for safety purposes.  While our school is open, we have locked the door (people just knock and Mrs. Collard will answer it) as we are trying to minimize visitors (non-staff) from entering unless it is absolutely necessary - again, for safety reasons to abide by the maximum occupancy we have put into place due to COVID-19. With a few exceptions, we don't expect to have any visitors during distance learning other than the times we will ask families to pick up and drop off work but that will all be outside as it was today.

Looking forward to an amazing year of learning and growing as a community.
Keep spreading your Hawk Wings!
