November – December 2018
Dear Palomares Families,
Thank You: Thank you Superintendent Ahmadi and Board President Jo Loss for attending our October PPTC meeting. Thank you Superintendent Ahmadi and Dr. Jason Reimann, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for visiting our school in October.
We have an amazing parent community and appreciate your partnership. Thank you Mrs. Marlis Bruns for overseeing our Hawk-a-thon this year and to all the volunteers who helped make our event a success! Keep turning in your pledge donations!
Thank you to Mrs. Benson for her leadership and organization of our Harvest Festival. Thank you to the team of parents who also helped set up, run booths and clean-up after our event. It was fun to see our students, families and staff having fun and being together as a community.
Welcome to our new School Site Council parent, Cassandra Sawyer. Thank you to our continuing parents, Marlis Bruns, Myra Capalong and Sheela Coutinho. Staff members include Mrs. Catrina, Mrs. Pipkins and Mrs. Collard. Thank you!
Mark Your Calendar: The Castro Valley Community Alliance is holding two events in November. On November 14th, there will be a Poetry Slam to hear poems written and/or recited by students and community members about unity, kindness and compassion. On November 15th, there will be a Unity Walk starting at 6:45 pm at the Castro Valley Public Library. Please see flyer in this Post It for more information.
Let’s Show We Care: Caring/Compassion is our character trait for the months of November and December. It is a perfect time to remember how fortunate we are and to give back to others. Our school is beginning our Annual Holiday Food Drive for Castro Valley Outreach. CV Outreach helps local families in need. Please consider donating. A list of items that are needed are included in this newsletter. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate care for others in our community.
We are also collecting donations to send to Support Our Troops in honor of Veterans Day. Please see the flyer included in this Post It.
In December, we will have our annual Giving Tree. More information is included in this newsletter.
Coffee with the Principal: Our next CWP is scheduled for November 30th after Friday Flag. CWP will usually be held the first Friday of every month. Ms. Nancy Nodal, our district Parent/Community Liaison will be here. If there are other topics of interest, please email me and mark your calendars.
Wishing your family a blessed and memorable holiday season!
Dr. Jennifer Tomita, Palomares Principal
